Black Douglas squirrel

Never seen one of these guys before. This was up on Lake Quinault. Supposedly it’s just a dark morph of the common gray squirrel. This one got into a shouting match with a pileated woodpecker at about 6 a.m. the next morning. Didn’t feel much like getting up just to record it for the ages though.

Update: Bob reminds me there is another squirrel up here which is a much better match. It’s not a black squirrel. It’s a Douglas squirrel.
